I have chosen to analyse this front cover of Kerrang because it shows many common codes and conventions of a music magazine. There is a big title across the top with an exclamation mark as if someone was shouting out the title at the audience. The one word title makes it very catchy with the audience because they only see the magazine at a glance and they need to be drawn in quickly. Another common convention shown is a prominent image of a band member with a title below him. The man is looking straight at the audience to draw them in and bring them to the magazine. The title gives a little indication of what the article is about. On this front cover it also has free gifts and shows a little picture of what they are. This part is located down the left hand side. Along the bottom of the magazine cover there are the names of the bands included in the magazine. This attracts the audience even more because if they know what is going to be in the magazine then they might be encouraged to buy it. In the top right third underneath the title there is the phrase “over 800 gigs listed!” this is short and easy to read and the number 800 is in a bigger font to emphasise the amount of gigs in the magazine. This magazine is aimed at teenagers because of the different fonts used and the images of band members used. There is a barcode at the bottom right hand corner.
